Like Catnip!
Susan and John Moore look like they’ve a useful one on their hands, with Catnip’s maiden victory at Colonial Downs on Tuesday – a nice precursor for the same owners’ Princess Grace, who’s making a latest attempt at a top flight victory tomorrow in the G1 Beverly D Stakes at Churchill Downs.Â
A 3-year-old son of Kitten’s Joy, Catnip was ridden prominently by Jevian Toledo before pouncing down the stretch to win by a growing length. Only his second ever start and first since February, Catnip can be expected to come on a nice bit for this run and win.
And now for the big race tomorrow.
Princess Grace is drawn 3 of 5 in tomorrow’s $500,000 Beverly D. Stakes, a turf race over 1 1/8th miles. With Florent Group on board, Princess Grace is a 3-1 shot on the Morning Line to claim her first win at the top level.
This fantastic daughter of Karakontie has won multiple graded stakes throughout her illustrious career, and she showed that she’s bang back to form last time out with a resounding victory in the G3 Dr. James Penny Memorial Stakes at Park Racing.
Fingers crossed!
And now for the other weekend entries:
