Venture Ready!
Lael Stables have another smashing addition to their broodmare band in home-bred Ready To Venture, who produced a gutsy performance to land the H.B.P.A. Stakes at Presque Isle Downs on Wednesday.
Given a peach of a ride by Antonio Gallardo, Ready to Venture stuck to her guns down the home stretch to repel the challenge of runner-up Miss Mikaela by 3/4 of a length. With a purse of $100,000 and a nice bit of black type next to Ready to Venture’s name now, it was a good day’s work all round for connections!
There could be more stakes race glory for the barn this weekend, with the exciting Sir Lancelot drawn 2 of 7 in the Bowman Mill Stakes tomorrow, a 6 furlong sprint for 2-year-olds at Keeneland. John and Susan Moore’s home-bred son of Goldencents is two-for-two, and was a runaway winner of the Fitz Dixon, Jr. Memorial Juvenile Stakes last time out at Presque Isle Downs. Jose Ortiz once again takes the ride on the 3-1 shot.
And now for the other entries this weekend:
