Great Week!
What a seven days it has been for the Stidham stable, with four winners out of just six runners!
Let’s start with Monday, when the stable sent out a quick-fire double at Fair Grounds courtesy of Carnelian and Uphold the Law.
DARRS Inc’s Carnelian was breaking her maiden under Rely Guttierez, sitting near the heels of the leader for most of the race before kicking clear to win by 1 and 1/4 lengths. This four-year-old daughter of First Samurai has shown plenty of talent in the past, and with this nice win under her belt, even more can be expected of her.
Later on the same card, Niall Brennan and Susan Moulton’s lightly raced five-year-old Uphold the Law kept up his impressive winning statistics when winning cosily under Brian Hernandez. A loser only once in five races, Uphold the Law has oodles of talent, and with this showing, he’s sure to keep connections dreaming of even better days to come, with a little luck.
On Wednesday at Turfway Park, Oak Crest Farms’ homebred, Chippewa, gained her first career victory in honest fashion under Walter Rodriguez, kept close to the pace throughout before delivering a killer blow at the end. Chippewa had been knocking on the door in a couple of her previous races, and this will have given the three-year-old daughter of Lookin at Lucky a great confidence boost.
And rounding out the week’s winners was an impressive performance by Godolphin’s talented homebred Purrfect, who made it three career wins out of just six starts, when foot perfect under Gerardo Corrales. This well-connected daughter of Medaglia d’Oro has been steadily building a healthy resume for the breeding shed, and a bit of black type must surely be on the cards.
