Boltage, Pin Oak Stud's handsome and talented son of Bolt D'Oro, got back to winning ways at Fair Grounds over the weekend, putting to bed a nice field of horses under a good ride by Ben Curtis.
Curtis had his mount handy throughout, and when the runner-up Cigarette Boat came with a challenge midstretch, Boltage showed a really nice attitude to knuckle out an easier-than-it-looked 3/4 length victory at the wire.
Previously trained by Richard Mandella, Boltage was highly tried as a two and three-year-old. Under Stidham's watch, the now four-year-old Boltage is demonstrating that he still retains a lot of that early ability. And this win will have done his confidence a world of good.
