Stable favorite Dream Shake made a fantastic return to action this weekend when running out a resounding winner of the Van Clief Stakes at Colonial Downs.
Owned by a group that includes Exline-Border Racing, Peter Eurton, Richard Hausman and Stonestreet Stables, Dream Shake was given a beautifully patient ride by Ben Curtis, a little out-paced to begin with before producing a fine turn of foot down the stretch to win by 3/4 of a length.
This was Dream Shake's first run since November of last year, and clearly has returned in great heart.
This 6-year-old son of Twirling Candy won the G2 Connaught Cup at Wodbine last year, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him step back up again into graded stakes company when next he reappears.
What this lovely victory proves once again is that there are few better trainers working today capable of keeping older horses in tip-top form year-in, year-out.
