After the fireworks that Tom's Magic provided last weekend (when running away with the Black Gold Stakes at Fair Grounds) the Stidham stable is hoping the good form carries over into this weekend at the same track, with Merry and Bright lining up in the $100,000 Allen Black Cat LaCombe Memorial Stakes.
Drawn 5 of 7 in the 1 mile and 1/16th turf contest for 3-year-old fillies, Merry and Bright has Ben Curtis on board. This well-bred daughter of Hard Spun won nicely on her debut, then acquitted herself with aplomb to finish 4th in a competitive P.G. Johnson Stakes at Saratoga last August.
Having her first start since then, Merry and Bright is an 8-1 shot on the Morning Line for tomorrow.
